KAREN COPPE grew up in Oakland, listening to big band, soul, classical, and the Beatles. Benny Goodman's "Sing, Sing, Sing" inspired her to learn the clarinet, which she played for over 40 years. During her college years, Karen sang with the school choir and performed with the Oak River Madrigal group at several Renaissance Faires. Later, during a hiatus from her work in the software industry, Karen taught instrumental music to elementary and intermediate school students. Karen performed for 20+ years with many community bands in the East Bay and after attending several Diablo Women's Chorale performances, Karen joined us in 2020.
