
The Diablo Women's Chorale welcomes our new Music Director - Erin Fishler! Erin grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area surrounded by music. She started performing at a very early age, singing with her parents and doing voiceover work for national television commercials. Erin expanded her musical experience by earning an Associate of Arts degree from the School for Music Vocations, a BA in Music from the University of Kansas, and a Masters of Music in Jazz Studies from Northern Illinois University.
Erin has shared her knowledge and her vocal talent with hundreds of students. She served on the faculty of Southwestern Community College in Iowa, teaching music fundamentals, vocal arranging, jazz keyboard, jazz solo literature, and running a vocal jazz studio. She has taught at Musical Expressions, the Music Center of Deerfield, and the Wunder Music Conservatory in Illinois, as well as at the Lafayette Music Co-Op in California. In addition, she has been a private piano and voice teacher for more than 20 years.
In addition to her thriving teaching career, Erin has also worked as a professional vocalist and keyboard player for the last sixteen years. She has worked with bands like the Gabriel Espinoza and the Ashanti Latin Jazz Orchestra, the Hello McFly Band, Band on the Run, Underwater People, Country Sky, Dayna Malow, Tributosaurus, Steve Frisbie, Ladies of the Canyon, Casa de la Luz, Bay Area-based Rumbache, MoeTar, and also as a solo artist. You can hear her singing backing vocals on a track of the Grammy nominated album “With Love” by Miami arranger Jeremy Fox.
Erin has traveled all over the United States and Canada, performing at such venues as B.B. King's in New York City, the House of Blues in Chicago, the Park West, Martyr’s, the Dakota in Minneapolis, the Great American Music Hall, Freight and Salvage, and Carnegie Hall.
We are thrilled to have Erin join DWC and lead us into the next phase of our musical evolution!
