JUNE MATTHEWS' music career started when she was a little girl dancing around the house with her two sisters in their long flannel night gowns and singing along with Rogers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella! They delighted in driving their older brother crazy. June’s Mom kept the three girls busy in the car teaching them to sing rounds, at last count they know 25. They also sang for church regularly. June sang in Junior and Senior High school and college choirs and several church choirs. The music theory she knows is from piano and drum lessons.
June joined DWC after a friend invited her to the 2016 Holiday concert. 2017 was a hard year for her and coming to sing every Monday night really helped her get through the year. She said “Being part of DWC is more than just singing. It’s sisters supporting each other with love and friendship. Although my own sisters live on the east coast, I feel lucky to have such a wonderful group of DWC sisters to sing with!” June has been on the Board since 2018 as Member at Large / Parliamentarian and now 2nd Vice President (2019).
