SHERRY DORFMAN and her husband are longtime residents of the East Bay, residing in Alamo and Danville. Sherry considers herself “semi-retired”; she retired from an executive officer position in the Contra Costa Superior Court, but she teaches part-time at two local colleges, Cal State Sacramento and San Jose City College in fields related to her court career. Sherry has been singing since grade school days, but the last time she was officially part of a performing group was during her time as a college student at Cal. She was a member of the board of directors for the Diablo Theatre Company (formerly Diablo Light Opera) for nearly 10 years, including 4 years as president. She also celebrated the music and magic of Broadway for 56 seasons, gracing Walnut Creek's Lesher Center stage before the company closed. She has been a member of other community boards, but for the past 15 years she has focused largely on three: Diablo Theatre Company, the Richard Arnason Court Scholarship Board (scholarships for ex-offenders), and REading ADvantage, Inc (READ), a non-profit organization she co-founded with two former colleagues to promote reading to children particularly in low income communities. Sherry joined the Diablo Women’s Chorale in January, 2020.
