A Message of Hope and Peace

In the ‘70s, Cat Stevens sang, "Peace train, take this country, come take me home again..." That 1971 chart hit by Cat Stevens resonates in the hearts of millions with its message of hope and peace, and now it speaks to a new generation.

The Diablo Women’s Chorale will sing “Peace Train,” and other hopeful, joyful songs as part of its mission to “Make Them Hear You,” its theme for the 2017 Spring concert in May. The song list includes “Brave,” by pop singer Sarah Bareilles; “Make Them Hear You,” featured in the film Ragtime; “Here’s to Life,” a poignant song made famous by jazz and blues artist Shirley Horn; the infectious, “Listen to the Music,” by the Doobie Brothers and  other uplifting pieces.

The Diablo Women’s Chorale is a community based group of women of all ages and walks of life. Director Lisa Forkish is a graduate of the Berklee college of Music in Boston. Ms. Forkish also led the women’s a capella group at the University of Oregon on which the movies “Pitch Perfect” were based.

We hope you will join us Saturday, May 20th for our 75th year as we come together for the joy and love of music. Concert times and ticket information to be announced.
